Colin Bowes worked as a commercial artist in the advertising and display world before returning to university to study ceramics, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1981. He continued potting for twenty years but then became interested in painting. In his ceramic work he made vases, bowls, etc. dry-glazed and decorated with geometric patterns in understated colours. His mark is an impressed 'CB' with 'Colin Bowes' in the same rectangular stamp.
