Debra Boyd-Goggin

Debra Boyd-Goggin (1975- ) was born in Tapini, Papua New Guinea, but moved with her family to Alice Springs as a small child. She started studying painting and drawing at the Alice Springs TAFE, then pursued a painting and ceramic degree through a number of different universities in the Northern Territory, Victoria and the ACT, finishing with a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Ceramics) at the ANU School of Art. For the first few years after graduation, she worked from a studio at the Strathnairn Arts Association on the western edge of Canberra. She now has a studio in Queanbeyan, NSW, which she shares with her husband Christopher Harman. Her work is mostly wheel-thrown stoneware with the inclusion on some pieces of handbuilt sections and different clay bodies. Surfaces are carved, slipped or inlayed, with multiple glazes applied through painting and spraying. Work may be marked with an incised 'D. Goggin' or 'D'.
