Sue Buckle

Sue Buckle completed a Certificate in ceramics at Northern Beaches College of TAFE in 1986, setting up her studio in Willoughby, NSW, where she still lives and works, and specialising in low-temperature saggar firing and earthenware tableware. She was a member of the Clay Things Pottery Gallery cooperative from 1986-1990 then took on the position of editor of Pottery in Australia from 1991-2000. Returning to life as a potter in the 2000s, she started exploring dry glaze and new forms through further studies at Hornsby College of TAFE. From the start of her studies to the present day she has held adult education classes as well as teaching ceramics part-time at TAFE. In 1990, she began conducting children's classes and holiday workshops and now, with fellow potter Krystin Taylor, offers specialist clay workshops to Sydney primary schools. She has also escorted pottery and special interest tours to Vietnam since 1996. Her work may be marked with an incised 'S Buckle' or 'SB'.
