Dirch and Lise Jans are potters based in Macclesfield, SA, who spend the Northern summer each year in Denmark, where they have a workshop - Jans Keramik - on the island of Bornholm. Lise was born in Denmark and trained there as a potter. After emigrating with her family to Australia, she took her husband Dirch on as a studio apprentice. By 1986, they had both become members of the SA Potters Guild and had established themselves as makers of a range of functional ware incised 'Jans SA' or 'Jans Australia' with clean modernist lines and a characteristic matte blue glaze. Pictures of their recent work can be seen on their Danish website.
