In the 1980s, Merle Mcintyre was a member of the SA Potters' Guild and was making a range of vases, mugs, etc. with a satiny black glaze and lustre decoration featuring Australian foliage and flowers. She gave up pottery In 1998 when she started botanical illustration classes through the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne. Her ceramic work is signed 'Merle Mcintyre [or MMc] South. Aust. [or Australia.]' painted in gold.
