Vitas Jurevicius

Vitas Jurevicius was born in Germany in 1948 of Latvian and Lithuanian parents. Coming to Australia as a child, he studied at the South Australian School of Art, graduating as an art teacher from the Western Teachers College in 1968. He began exhibiting in 1972 with a one man show of pottery and painting at the Adelaide Festival of Arts. In the 1977 potters' directory he is based in Mt Gambier, SA, where he was president of the S.E. Art Society from 1975-1980. He continued to exhibit as a potter through to 1990, but now works in acrylic on canvas and masonite. He is currently based at Mt Barker near Hahndorf and teaches at Heritage College, Adelaide. His ceramic works are signed with an impressed or incised 'VIT'.
