Diggins Ceramics

Based in Barwon Heads, Victoria, near Geelong, Diggins Ceramics was set up by David Diggins in 1980 under the name 'Diggins Pottery'. Linda Diggins joined him in 1982, and the name was changed to Diggins Ceramics in 1990. In that year, the couple held a major exhibition at the Northcote Gallery (Craft Arts International, 18, 1990, p. 107). In 1999, they were one of 38 practitioners who took part in the 'Creative Australia in Japan' exhibition (Craft Arts International, 46, 1999, pp. 104-105). Their ceramic work is chacterised by vase forms with colourful airbrushed glazes and sgraffito, carved, slip-trailed or masked decoration. Works are signed 'DLD' in iron oxide and impressed 'Diggins Pottery' or 'Diggins Ceramics'. In 2001, the pottery was closed and the couple now operate a video production and photography business.
