Michalski, Willi

Willi Michalski (1933- ) migrated to Australia from Germany in 1955 and began working full time as a potter in 1976 from a studio in Church Point, NSW, where he still lives and works. He was introduced to stoneware by Ivan and Patricia Englund. He specialises in non-functional stoneware and porcelain vessels, using oriental glazes and reduction-fired glaze-on-glaze decoration, with some lustres. In 1996, he made a series of pots decorated by the artist Salvatore Zofrea. He has entries in the 1981-1996 and online directories.His works are marked with an impressed 'WM'.
