Sanders, Christopher

Christopher Sanders (1952- ) trained with his father Tom Sanders from 1971-74 and with Ian Sprague at Mungeribar Pottery from 1976-78. In 1978 he went on a study tour of the United States, Canada and England. In 1979 he received a workshop assistance grant. From 1979-1981 he lectured part-time at Prahan College before establishing the Clifton Hill Pottery in 1981 and setting up as a production potter. During the later eighties and nineties he completed an honours degree in history at Latrobe University, and a Masters Degree by Research (Ceramics) at the School of Art, RMIT. After lecturing at RMIT University and also teaching in the offshore School of Art program in Hong Kong, he has now set himself up as a photographer of art objects, artists and interiors. He has an entry in the 1990 potters' directory, and articles by and about him in a range of print journals. Early works are incised 'Chris Sanders' or 'C.S.'. Works from 1981 are impressed 'CS'.
